So now its all about nuclear?

The search for the magic pill continues...

The ABC reports that Tony Abbott has kicked off his leadership by abasing himself at the altar of nuclear power.

Like the never-ending search for the magic diet pill, John Howard spent more than a decade searching for magic pills to solve the greenhouse problem without hurting his beloved coal industry. Carbon sequestration, changing the accounting rules, you name it, the search was ongoing and in vain, and usually with him tripping blindly over the renewable options and demand management solutions along the way. Billions upon billions were pumped into the "cake and eat it" dreams of the fossil fuel players.

Continuing in the Howard way, Abbott has set his sights on a new magic pill: atomic power.

Forget the massive cost of construction, forget the toxic and undumpable waste. And all the while, Australia's renewable industries, that are all here and now, continue to languish for want of the barest of care and nurturing?
