Japanese whalers ram Sea Shepherd speedboat

This is really poor form from the Japanese whalers to ram the Ady Gil - a small and fragile boat on the high seas in the Antarctic area. Video from one of the Sea Shepherd boats available on the ABC News website clearly shows (contrary to the Japanese explanation) that the Japanese ship changes course to deliberately hit the Ady Gil.

It isn't clear at this point whether the $1.5 million boat can be kept afloat and salvaged. It was formerly called the Earthrace, which did the fastest circumnavigation of the world and was gifted to Sea Shepherd.

BUT I've been growing increasingly concerned about the Sea Shepherd tactics. They are too violent. Is it telling that Greenpeace seemed to have stayed away from any action near SS?

My idea for protesting the whaling is not to fight in a far-flung ocean out of the public gaze, but to blockade the Japanese Embassy in Canberra. Check it out in Google Maps - only one way in and out. That would get major media coverage because it is right there in the nation's capital. That's media that could go global. More importantly it could get coverage in Japan.

Something's needed - the Australian Government under both of the old parties has failed to act to stop this fraudulent whale slaughter.
