While the massive 8.8 earthquake in Chile (7th strongest in recorded history) has been tragic for Chileans, scientists have already been studying it with fascinations (as they do).
And they've found that it was so strong that it has given our whole planet a bit of a jiggle.
CNN reports that NASA's JPL have calculated a shift in the earth's axis of around eight centimetres. this in turn will have shortened our days by 6.8 microseconds. (A microsecond is a millionth of a second.)
Sheesh - I didn't have enough time to get things done as it was...
