Here's a great home project to share some QT with the kids: a compressed air rocket launcher.
The video clip talks about a kit from a US magazine, but all the bit would be easily available from the local Magnet Mart, Dick Smiths and bicycle shop. Most expensive part with be the irrigation solenoid at around $25.
