Launched from under a wing of a commercial airliner, this little beauty looks like it could give Richard Branson's SpaceShipTwo some competition for commercial near-space joyflights. But it would want to turn upside down to give passengers a good view. Somehow I don't think the glass bottom approach would be viable.
It is modelled on NASA's X-38.
I so want to go up there, and so far my efforts to convince my kids to pursue an astronaut career look to be the best hope for hitching a ride. It might be a while before this sort of commercial ride is affordable for us mere mortals.
No timetable given, but then the year 2000 once seemed an eternity away...
