Sabre-toothed cat fossils found


Now this is a little bit more like it...

While Australia has plenty of deadly nasties these days, one thing we've always been lacking is some really nasty prehistoric predators. Where's our T-Rex huh? Not fair.

Well now scientists on a fossil dig in Queensland's dinosaur playground Riversleigh have unearthed a bizarre sabre-toothed cat with Diego-like fangs half the length of its skull. There's a catch though - the skull would fit in the palm of your hand.

Really vicious - in a tiny kind of way. Think that badger latched onto the guy's boot in The Gods Must Be Crazy...?
