This is a brilliant 'get' by the astronauts aboard the International Space Station. In a great feat of timing, they were able to film the Russian Progress 42P supply ship re-entering the atmosphere after undocking from the ISS, where it has been playing 'trash compactor' for the last six months.
It's only a few seconds until the ISS crossed the terminator and flared into daylight, washing out the view.
The unmanned robotic capsule delivered supplies from Russian in April, then remained docked to the ISS. It burns up on re-entry, including all the garbage the ISS astronauts have packed in there in the meantime.
My wheeliebin is putrid if I miss the weekly pickup. Bet the crew were pleased to send this one off!
