Interesting profile on Greens' Bob Brown - interesting on several levels

This is an intriguing profile on the Greens leader Dr Bob Brown in the online Brisbane Times, if only for the way it demonstrates the Australian media's struggle to get their heads around who this guy is.

This interesting admission from ALP's John Faulkner shows they have trouble grappling with Brown and the Greens too:

"For the first time since the existence of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Labor Party has found itself in a parliament where it has an electoral force on its left-wing flank and it appears to be quite a viable electoral force. That is a new thing for the Labor Party to grapple with."

Greg Jericho - of Grog's Gamut fame - had a good go at interpreting the Greens, Brown and the media attitude to the Greens. But it is all too rare that our media take the Greens seriously.

Could it be that the "Press Gallery" have spent so much time around the "old parties" that they have trouble believing that someone in politics can simply be a good person and doing it for the right reasons?
