The latest video on the making of The Hobbit - they go onsite to a rebuilt Hobbitown. Getting excited...

Peter Jackson is done with the studio work for a while and the whole crew hits the road for outdoor shots of those wonderful New Zealand landscapes. 140 vehicles, 500 people - it's no small effort of logistics.

Meanwhile, other crew have already spent two years rebuilding Hobbitown. If like me you were disappointed to learn the original was dismantled, here we learn that the façades were only polystyrene anyway. But this time they've built it properly. So we have a lasting tourist attraction, and no doubt the NZ Government are very happy about that!
