This will probably make you cry. Tour Japanese tsunami ruins view Google Streetview

Google has already posted all new satellite imagery of the tsunami-ravaged areas of Japan in maps.google.com.

But now they've gone further - a lot further.

The Google Streetview car has toured all of the affected areas, meaning anyone can now check out first-hand the quake and tsunami impacts.

You'll be shocked at the damage and wreckage and the sheer scale of the work ahead of the Japanese people and Government. This is not something to have a quick look at while at work - you will literally spend ages just moving around any of the east coast villages and towns.

You can easily see the damaged areas from the Maps view and then drop the Streetview guy into the middle. You'll find yourself standing beside the machinery and the people still working to clean up the mess - and seemingly barely scratching the surface. Exposed floor slabs everywhere. Half-destroyed homes, schools and other buildings still standing in the same condition as the day of the quake. And the detritus that once was people's lives still littering everywhere.

Google released this last Friday, but I've been pondering how to do it justice in a mere blog article. I think though that you just have to go and explore for yourself. Just pick almost anywhere along that central to northern east coast that wasn't protected from the north-east.
