Teachers, would you like your science class to take control of The Dish at Parkes? They have slots available!

PULSE@Parkes is a project that introduces students to radio astronomy, allowing them to steer the famous dish onto pulsars and seeing if they are 'on', then measuring their signals. They have advised that they have observing slots available for booking:

We have five new observing slots for schools to participate in the PULSE@Parkes project. These are for observations on the following dates:

• Tuesday 3 April

• Friday 25 May

• Monday 18 July

• Friday 27 July

• Tuesday 4 September.

We hope to inform successful applicants within the next two weeks. If you have a small class please indicate if you are willing to share the session with another school group. Maximum desirable class size is about 24 students. Sessions typically run from about 10.30 - 13.15. A project staff member usually visits your school ahead of the observing session to discuss radio astronomy, pulsars and the PULSE@Parkes project with your students.
