This is a weird phenomenon - but not unheard of. According to CBN News, it is known as Foreign Accent Syndrome.

Funny thing the brain. We have so much to learn about it.

Meanwhile, seems he's fully recovered - a tour of Australian venues is booking now for November. Tickets aren't cheap though...
