Awesome eruption on the Sun

On August 31, this huge filament erupted from Earth and was captured by three different space observatories: NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), NASA’s Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO), and the joint ESA/NASA Solar Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO).

The ejecta left the Sun at some 1500 kilometres per second! Fortunately, it wasn't directed towards Earth or we may have had some serious electronics problems. But we did get some pretty neat auroras out of it.
