Oops – new model iPhone tester leaves it in the pub
It’s all red apples – red-faced Apple anyway – after one of Apple’s engineers left he had a drink too many in the pub while celebrating his birthday, and left his prototype new model iPhone behind. "I underestimated how good German beer is."
The guy who found it tried to give it back to Apple but couldn’t get anyone to take the call!
Tech blog Gizmodo got their hands on the highly secret unit after paying USD5000 to the people who found it.
And rather than denying it was genuine, Apple have been doing everything they can to get it back. They are accusing Gizmodo of receiving stolen goods, the Gizmodo editor’s home has been raided, front door smashed in, and all his computers confiscated. They even (eventually) asked nicely for it back.
Looks like Apple is going to fix some of the key criticisms. Flash and forward camera principally.
Meanwhile they continue to deny Adobe Flash access on iPhone and iPod platforms. Media doesn't seem to get why, when I would have thought the reason is clear. Apple can't control - and therefore skim a take from - any advertising embedded in Flash clips.
