Enough! We don't vote for the PM

Enough of this nonsense that Julia Gillard ousted a legitimately elected prime minister - as pedalled by everyone from Tony Abbott, most of the media, many letter writers, and to be fair even Gillard herself.

Kevin Rudd was elected by the people in one seat only, as was Gillard.

The system of government we have in Australia on not the same as America's. The PM is chosen by the party with the most lower house seats. And they can choose to change their minds, should they feel it is in the interests of their party and/or the country.

What is worthy of analysis is:

1. that Rudd was as incapable of seeing he was out of his depth as was John Howard before him, and
2. that the ALP had the guts to do what the Liberals and Peter Costello did not.
