Latika sets off a Twitterstorm

Latika Bourke @latikambourke would be my hands down favourite tweep. Always just reports the facts, what people say, smart or stupid. Generally keeps her opinions out of it. And in an era of personality- and opinion-based journalism, that's a breath of fresh air.

And over the weekend just gone she kept up an amazing stream of coverage of the Qantas debacle, including right through two very long FWA hearings. Rock solid quality journalism. In 140 characters including spaces. Or less.

But she set off a storm when she posted this tweet tonight:

"Watching footage of Greens Sen.s Sarah Hanson-Young & Scott Ludlam drinking beers/eating dinner while Govt confirms deaths of asylum seekers"

And there's been nothing since.

I hope it is either more problems with her iPad or she's just plain crashed out. But the vacuum is leaving people wondering. And nature abhors a vacuum.

The smarter ones are asking who did the filming and who showed it to her, and hence what are their motives? The harsher ones are pointing out that many of us ate and drank this evening, and that this is no reflection on the Greens' long-lasting opposition to the way both ALP and Liberals have handled the whole border control issue (or ours).

I hope she can clarify the post soon.
