Most self-proclaimed greenies, and a lot of "I'm not a greenie but..." people have read Dr Seuss' The Lorax to their kids.
We know that there really isn't much that will change the habits of the current generations other than waiting for us all to die out. So the trick is to kick off the next generations on the right path. And The Lorax has been a staple part of laying that foundation ethic.
So many people will be pleased to see a movie version is to be released in March.
What people might not be happy about it how much is different from the book. But remember, it is a short book, and a movie does have to run at least 90 minutes to warrant people stumping up the obscene ticket price. So it's likely to deviate a fair bit from the original. Maybe we just have to go into it thinking 'clean slate'?
And on the topic of movies with messages, Happy Feet Two is out - well in the USA market anyway. Seems Australians have to wait until Boxing Day to see this Australian movie...
Some people are predicting gloom because the US box office takings haven't matched the original's. So what? It's sure to be a lot of fun. I know I walked out of the cinema with sore feet from tapping away to the first one!
