Soundwaves brought to life - simply mesmerising. Reminds me of my physics classes...

This is a gorgeous representation of how sounds waves oscillate. The video clip is about seven minutes and here's betting you watch it right through. It's that sort of video.

The setup has a thin cord between two spinning discs. As people move close to the wave, it changes form with the air disturbance - just like with sound waves.




Back in uni days, we did something like this but it was only about 500mm long and the most standing waves we could generate in the space was four or five. This very long device gives a much better idea of how sound works.

And yet again, nature shows us art on a par with any an artist could possibly imagine.
