The CPA have released the second episode of their exclusive interview with Neil Armstrong.

In this episode, Armstrong talks about the loss of Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee in a test of Apollo 1 in 1967, the lessons learned from that tragedy, the first Apollo to circle the moon, and then his own launch.

Armstrong explains how he was the backup commander for the flight around the Moon, so how he knew once they took off, that he was in with a shot of the actual landing. He also talks about his belief that they had a 90% chance of getting back, but only a 50/50 chance of effecting an actual landing. It's interesting how involved the astronauts were in the decision-making around the whole program - they weren't just passengers!
