SpaceX Dragon is back on Earth - and looking a little scorched

Almost everything about the SpaceX mission to send their Dragon space ship to the International Space Station and successfully return it to Earth has run absolutely to script.

The critical part of the mission was on the 26th when Dragon docked with the ISS, and delivered a load of groceries, computers and other goodies.

With the Dragon capsule splashing own in the Pacific Ocean west of Baja California, the first mission by a completely commercial organisation came to a close.

Company founder Elon Musk went on to say that a person could have stowed away on Dragon and successfully made it back to Earth alive. Of course a people-friendly version of the capsule would probably make it a lot more comfortable trip...

The best photo of the week though has to be this one of the capsule on board the recovery barge - looking like it really as been through hell and popped out the other side looking rather worse for wear..
