Dear America, your adherence to Imperial measures is "illogical"

George Takei—of Star Trek fame—posted this gem today, saying 'As Spock would say, "Highly illogical." '

I concur. For a nation that fought a war against British Imperialism, I've never understood why they cling so tenaciously to an illogical Imperial measurement system that most of the rest of the world has abandoned.

But it's good to see more and more thought leaders in America using metric measures in their daily social media and other communications. And although NASA steadfastly sticks with Imperial, the new commercial operators are leading the way with entirely metric commentary—even if they are forced to use the old ways to ensure spaceships can safely dock with NASA craft without maths errors, etc.
