NASA's Grail moon mapping mission is just minutes from ending. The twin spacecraft were nicknamed Ebb and Flow by school children of Emily Dickinson School following a nationwide competition. They have been mapping the gravity across the Moon surface, sometimes as low as just 16 kilometres above the surface!
This depiction of the final flightpath gives an idea of just how incredibly low it has been flying.
But with fuel running low, the mission is coming to an end. It was important hat when they eventually crashed to the Moon surface, they didn't damage historical landing sites. So instead NASA is going to deliberately crash them into a mountain range.
